With their stout, sausage-like bodies, sturdy limbs, and triangular heads, they’re hard to resist. And let’s not forget that eye-catching blue tongue — it’s their most stylish accessory!

Bio: Bearded dragons, medium-sized lizards from eastern and central Australia, are the stars of the reptile world! Thriving in semiarid deserts and scrublands, they soak up sunlight during the day. Species: Crested Gecko (Correlophus ciliatus)

Bio: The crested gecko, or eyelash gecko, comes from southern New Caledonia and was astonishingly rediscovered in 1994 after being thought extinct! These charming little creatures sport soft, spiky, crest-like scales from their eyes to their tails, giving them a real dragon-like appearance. Oh and those those big, adorable eyes have no eyelids! Weird Right? Instead, they lick them clean with their tongues, which is just adorable to watch. Plus, with specialized pads on their toes and tails, they’re expert climbers, gracefully navigating the trees and plants of their lush habitat.

Species: California Kingsnake (Lampropeltis californiae)

Bio: The California kingsnake is a nonvenomous colubrid snake, native to the sunny western United States and northern Mexico. These snakes are like a living piece of art. The word “Lampropeltis” translates to bright/ brilliant scales which is the perfect description, with the glossy black and white bands these snakes. Kingsnakes also are one of the best snakes to have around your home, as they eat pretty much any rodent they can and they will even eat rattlesnakes!

Species: California Mountain Kingsnake (Lampropeltis zonata)

Bio: The California mountain kingsnake is a nonvenomous colubrid snake found in North America. Its coloration and patterns imitate those of the coral snake, despite coral snakes not residing in California or within the range of this species. Its banded appearance consists of red, black, and white crossbands, with every red band flanked by two black bands, forming triads that are divided by white or cream/yellow crossbands. Since individual snakes can display variability in their colors and patterns, relying on the traditional saying “Red touches yellow will kill a fellow, red touches black its a friend of Jack” is not recommended.

Often confused with rattlesnakes due to their hissing and tail-shaking, they are non-venomous and harmless to humans. Their bluffing behavior is a smart survival tactic. Highly alert and curious, gopher snakes are active explorers who enjoy interaction and enrichment, always on the move and looking for adventure- or a snack!
