Health & Safety: Health & Safety: Keeping Our Little Adventurers Safe

At Sierra Scales Exotics, the health of your children and our animals is our top priority. Our reptiles are beloved pets that receive excellent veterinary care, high-quality nutrition, and immaculate husbandry.

However, it is important for parents to know that all reptiles and amphibians, even healthy and clean ones, naturally carry Salmonella bacteria in their digestive tracts. This is a normal part of their biology, but it can cause illness in humans if ingested.

Our Safety Protocol:

  • Sanitize to Start: We require hand sanitization before the show begins to protect our animals.

  • Sanitize to Finish: We require mandatory hand sanitization (or washing with soap and water) immediately after the reptile encounter ends.

  • No "Face-to-Face": We teach kids not to kiss the reptiles or put their hands near their mouths during the show.

  • Supervision: Our expert handler supervises all interactions, but we ask parents to help ensure little hands stay away from mouths until they are washed!

Testimonials:

“We had Ash and her critter friends over for my son's 4th birthday party and what an amazing time we had! She was kind enough to meet us beforehand for a few minutes so I could make sure my son would be ok with the snakes. She was so knowledgeable and did great with the kids being excited and a little rambunctious. I highly recommend having her for a party or educational event!”~ Katie W.

“Ash was amazing! We had her come to our son’s 10th birthday party and all of the kids loved it. She is knowledgeable, has great ‘classroom’ management and her animals are the best. Highly recommend her to anyone who loves reptiles and amphibians and critters in general.” ~Allana J.
